Emerging Artists Series at Monmouth Museum

"Along the Canal"
The New Jersey Emerging Artists Series opened at the Monmouth Museum's Nilson Gallery this month with the first of three month-long exhibitions.

Six artists working in a variety of media were selected by a panel of 10 jurors. A Haddonfield artist opens the series.

"Philip J. Carroll - Oil Paintings" will be showing through Aug. 5.

In an artist's statement, Carroll says: "After many years of showing my students how to paint landscapes, I thought it time to explore this genre as serious subject matter for my own work. So for the first time in many years, I have been reborn as an artist and am finding endless joy in creating paintings that seem to make perfect sense."

The Monmouth Museum is located on the Brookdale Community College campus, Newman Springs Road, in Lincroft. The Main Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $6; members, Brookdale students and staff with a valid I.D., and children under age 2 are admitted free. For more information, call (732) 747-2266, or visit www.monmouthmuseum.org.
