New CFO said to have Wright stuff

MIDDLETOWN - Before becoming the township's chief financial officer 22 years ago, Robert Roth was always on the go and never around much, to the tune of only half the time, literally.

"I used to be in the transportation industry, and so I was always on the road two weeks out of every month," Roth said. "After a while I realized it was time to stop traveling and start commuting."

His commute was severely decreased once he took the position in town, but as of Sept. 1, he'll be retired, leaving the door open for Richard Wright Jr. to take over. Wright, 39, was previously employed by the city of Camden as the director of finance since 1999 and the CFO since 2003.

Township Administrator Robert Czech is happy to have somebody coming on board who has plenty of expertise.

"Mr. Wright's experiences with prior challenging assignments, as well as his education and credentials, hold promise for the continued solid financial management of the township," Czech said.

Wright will start work on Aug. 13 and will work with Roth to ensure a seamless transition.

"Bob Roth is a hard act to follow. Thanks to his years of dedication, Middletown has a strong financial foundation and a proud history of stable financial management," Czech said.

Roth said he will have fond memories of his time in Middletown and also looks forward to the next phase of his life.

"I loved it here and it has been a great place to work and live and I am sure that Mr. Wright is perfectly capable and will do a fine job," Roth said. "But it's a time in my life when it's time for me to move on and I am looking forward to doing just that."
