Engine Company's 'Seafood Fest' Sept. 8
Washington Engine Company No. 1, 176 Jackson St., Matawan, will hold a "Seafood Fest" Sept. 8 from 1-10 p.m.
The fundraiser will be held for Richard Ingram's experimental kidney transplant and recovery. Ingram is a 40-year life member of the company. The menu will feature shrimp, steamers, blue claw crabs, hard-shell clams, hamburgers and hot dogs. Tickets are $20, and $10 for children younger than age 13.

Hazlet YMCA to open achievement center
The Community YMCA, Route 36 north and Poole Avenue, Hazlet, has announced it will open a new YMCA children's achievement center for children age 2-6 beginning in September.
It will offer academic preschool and half-day kindergarten enrichment programs as well as programs such as "Mommy & Me," summer camp, and Y-Kids after-school clubs. Enrichment programs will be offered in areas such as karate, robotics, writing and dance, and fitness.
YMCA child achievement programs are available in Hazlet, Holmdel, Matawan, Red Bank, Ocean, Asbury Park and West Long Branch. Children's achievement centers are in Matawan, Hazlet and Ocean.
