SharkFest proceeds should go to Matawan Recreation

SharkFest from what I heard was well attended. I was unable to attend, but from all accounts the Matawan Alliance did a great job. However, my question - which I have asked several times and remains unanswered - is what happens to the money made from such events, and are they used to benefit Matawan?

I did attend Matawan's Night Out Aug. 7. It was a wonderful event. The antique cars, first aid and fire department trucks, music, food, all had a festive community spirit. There was a 50/50 raffle going on during the evening. Once again other than the winner, where does the money go?

I think if the residents of Matawan are supporting the Matawan Alliance through tax dollars, there should be accountability. Shouldn't events like this one be turned over to the Matawan Recreation Department to sponsor? It would help defray the costs of the Recreation Department's expenses and save tax dollars.
