Two charged for robbing gas station with toy gun

ABERDEEN - Police arrested two men Aug. 20 for using a toy gun to rob a gas station.

Michael B. Conway, 20, of Marlboro, and Josue Edmond, 25, of Toms River, were arrested for allegedly robbing the Enrite gas station on the corner of Route 34 and Lloyd Road. An attendant reported that the robber originally walked to the gas station, asked where he could find an ATM, then walked away. A few minutes later, he returned, flashed a handgun and demanded cash. The employee reported that the suspect fled in a taxicab.

En route to the gas station at approximately 11:15 p.m., police officers pulled over a taxi on Lloyd Road. Police found a toy handgun in the back seat with Conway, the passenger. The gas station attendant identified Conway as the robber.

Edmond, the driver, was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana, according to police. A subsequent investigation concluded that Edmond had prior knowledge of the robbery plans and that Conway gave Edmond the proceeds of the crime.

Conway was charged with armed robbery and his bail was set at $150,000 with no 10 percent option. Conway also was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by Matawan in the amount of $750.

Edmond was charged with conspiracy, and his bail was set at $100,000 with no 10 percent option. He was found to have an outstanding warrant issued for his arrest by Toms River in the amount of $195. He was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and taken to Monmouth County jail.
