Poricy Conservancy announces activities

Poricy Park Conservancy, Middletown, will participate in the annual Middletown Day, Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville Road, Leonardo section of Middletown (rain or shine). Poricy will feature children's crafts, quilting demonstrations, and information about the park. Volunteers will also be on hand to explain about upcoming park programs and events.

Poricy will also take part in Macy's "Shop For a Cause," Oct.13. Patrons purchasing a $5 shopping pass from Poricy will save 20 percent or 10 percent all day on this one-day shopping event at Macy's nationwide (some exclusions apply). Proceeds help support Poricy Park Conservancy. Passes are available at the park Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 12:30-3:30 p.m. For more information, call (732) 842-5966 or visit www.PoricyPark.org.

The conservancy will host a Casino Night Oct. 20 from 7-11 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2179, 1 Veterans Lane, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. Cost is $45 with pre-registration. The event will feature a buffet dinner, $100 in play money for gaming, dancing and prizes. Cost is $45 with preregistration, and proceeds benefit the conservancy.

The conversancy is also seeking new board members and volunteers to actively participate in its historical and environmental programs. Its board of trustees meets the third Thursday of each month, and project management committees meet between scheduled board meetings.
