'Light Lunch,' space exhibit offered at museum
The Friends of the Monmouth Museum is offering a "Light Lunch and Lecture" series.
"The Art of Quilts" will be presented by quilter and fiber artist Jane Johnson Oct. 22. She will demonstrate how to incorporate quilts into the modern environment as works of art using the elements of color, design and message.
Don Magee of Amuse Bouché Productions will present "Watch, Taste, Learn and Celebrate!" Dec. 3. An adjunct professor at Brookdale, Magee will demonstrate techniques for holiday entertaining using traditional and nontraditional combinations. All programs are at 11 a.m. at the museum on the campus of Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown. Programs include a lunch. The cost for each event is $30 for nonmembers and $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers.
"Blast Off! A Space Journey" opens at the museum Oct. 14 and will take visitors on a journey to the past, present and future of space exploration. It will include a hall of astronomy history including Galileo's laboratory, interactive presentation on the suns, planets and Milky Way, and a StarLab planetarium show. Cost is $7 which includes the planetarium show, and $6 for the exhibit alone. School group tours are available weekdays. Museum space sleepovers are also being planned for groups of 20-30 children, as are night sky viewing events.
Museum hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. For lecture reservations or more information, call Julia or Mary at (732) 747- 2266
