Matawan Woman's Club celebrates 92nd anniversary
The GFWC Woman's Club of Matawan is celebrating the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the club during October. The Club's accomplishments during its early years include formation of Public Health Association, the PTA, a municipal park and helped found the library with a member as librarian.
The Club is collecting items to make "First Night" kits for a local women's shelter and donations of items may be made at the club's booth during Matawan Day Sept. 30 at Terhune Park. Needed are flannel pants (size M, L or XL), T-shirts (size L or XL), socks with treads, underwear (M, L, or XL in packages of two or three), toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, comb/brush, full size bottles of shampoo, full size bottles of baby powder, full size bottles of body lotion, small pad of paper and pen/pencil, book/novel/magazine, $5 prepaid telephone calling card. Items will also be accepted by club representatives at Make a Difference Day Oct. 27.
The club's next meeting will be Oct. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at the clubhouse at 199 Jackson St. Guests are welcome to attend.
