Middletown Day Saturday
MIDDLETOWN - Pony rides, clowns, and classic cars are only a few of the sights and sounds planned for this year's Middletown Day.
On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the festivities will be held at Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville Road, rain or shine. The first 1,500 people to show will receive free hats.
This year's activities include a circus under the big top at 1, 2:15, and 3:30 p.m., as well as a petting zoo, hayrides and an old fashioned flea market. Bands scheduled to perform are the all-female cover group the Party Dolls at 12:30 p.m., the reggae group Verdict at 2:30 p.m., and the seven-member rock and roll group, the Fabulous Greaseband at 4:15 p.m. A large craft fair will also be a part of the festivities.
The exhibits this year will include booths from the Middletown Office of Emergency Management, the Middletown Historical Society, the Middletown Library, the township's Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse and many others. Free safety lessons will be given by the Fire Department.
Classic car show awards will begin at 3:45 p.m., with honors to be given out in several categories.
People attending will be able to sign a special banner that will be sent out to Middletown's adopted unit in Iraq.
Limited parking is available at Croydon Hall. Guests are encouraged to take the free parking shuttles at Bayville Elementary on 300 Leonardville Road, the commuter parking lot on Route 36 and Appleton Avenue, and Kunkel Park on Brevent Avenue and Route 36.
