WWII programs, ghost hunt slated at Brookdale

The center for World War II studies and conflict resolution at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will welcome Leonard "Bud" Lomell, Toms River, Oct. 23 from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Lomell, a former U.S. Army Ranger, will present "Worst of the Worst: Battle for Huertgen Forest." The U.S. Army's 2nd Ranger Battalion, with Lomell leading one of its companies, was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for valorous actions during battle. Chris Fleming, ghost hunter and founder of Unknown magazine, will give a lecture and lead a ghost hunt Oct. 25 beginning at 7 p.m. Fleming is co-host of the cable show "Dead Famous," where he searches for celebrity ghosts nationwide. For fee details or more information, call (732) 224-2500.

The college will host "Win/Win Building Capacity Through Collaboration" Oct. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The conference is the first conference of the new Nonprofit Assistance Center for Monmouth and Ocean counties, and is open to individuals in the nonprofit community interested in using collaboration and strategic partnerships to expand resources, benefit clients, and attract funding. The BCC Center for World War II Studies will welcome veteran and retired educator Barry Rosenzweig Oct. 30 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. He will present "Lifting the War Clouds: The Music of World War II." Brookdale students and faculty who spent 10 days in Japan in July will share photos and stories and will provide Japanese refreshments Nov. 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The presentation is free. For more information, call the international center at (732) 224-2799.
