WWII commemoration at Brookdale Nov. 4

The center of World War II (WWII) studies and conflict resolution at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will honor America's veterans at a "65th Anniversary Commemoration, 1942: The Year of Turning Points," Nov. 4 from 3-5 p.m. at Warner student life center.

Speakers include Brookdale president, Dr. Peter F. Burnham; Dr. Paul Gaffney, Vice Admiral (retired) and president, Monmouth University, West Long Branch; and World War II veteran Ted J. Narozanick, Freeholder Emeritus, Monmouth County.

Honorees will be William Askew, Brick, veteran, U.S. Navy and the Battle of Midway; Reuven Flaum, Farmingdale, veteran, Soviet Army and the Battle of Moscow; James Serano, Wanamassa section of Ocean Township, veteran, U.S. Army and the Battle for North Africa; and Frank Holmgren, Eatontown, veteran, U.S. Navy and the Battle of Guadalcanal.

There will be table displays from the 102nd Cavalry Group WW II Re-Enactors Association. Also taking part will be the 33rd Signal Construction Battalion Living History Group, the N.J. Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, and the Monmouth Chapter, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. There will also be WW II memorabilia on display. Patriotic music will be Bob Paddack's Nostalgia Band and the Monmouth Battleground Chorus.
