Dorothy Burke

Mrs. Burke, 85, of Shadow Lake Village, Middletown, died Oct. 29, 2007, at home following a battle with lung cancer. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Glen Ridge; Highlands Lakes; Roscoe, N.Y.; and Bradenton, Fla.; prior to relocating to Middletown. She was a retired executive secretary for the public school system in Glen Ridge. She was a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. She as a playwright, actor, lyricist and singer and produced several musicals for her church. She was a Cub Scout Den mother. She enjoyed golf, and was a life member of the Shadow Lake ladies golf program. She also enjoyed reading. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Richard P. Burke, in 2003. She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Brower of Cambridge, Mass.; and a son, Tim of Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
