Marine Corps Pvt. Daniel Cornell has completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally. Cornell performed calisthenics, spent several hours in classroom and field assignments, and performed closeorder drills and field training. He is the son of Sharon R. Roberts, Keyport, and Michael C. Cornell of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge.

Air Force Airman Jonathan J. Leszewski has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During training, he performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. Airmen completing basic training also earn credits toward an associate degree at the Community College of the Air Force. A 2005 graduate of Raritan High School, Hazlet, Leszewski is the son of Todd Leszewski of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet.
