James E. Spafford

Mr. Spafford, 83, of Union Beach, died Nov. 8, 2007, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Camden, he resided in Perth Amboy prior to relocating to Union Beach 60 years ago. He was an oiler at National Lead for more than 30 years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a life member of American Legion No. 321, Union Beach, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by a sister, Alice Walsh. He is survived by his wife, Ann Steidle Spafford; a brother, Louis Francis Spafford Jr. of Keyport; and two nephews. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
