Volunteers sought for SART advocate program

The rape care program at 180 Turning Lives Around, Hazlet, is seeking men and women to join the rape care advocate team. Training begins Jan. 19 and continues for six consecutive Saturdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Little Silver Women's Center, Rumson Road and Church Street. Interested individuals must complete the 50-hour training in order to become an advocate and member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) of Monmouth County. The team includes areas of sexual assault awareness, crisis intervention, hotline counseling, medical/legal/emotional needs of a sexual assault survivor, and the criminal justice system in relation to sexual assault.
