'Fort Hancock Christmas in 1940s' under way

Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area will hold an open house, "Fort Hancock Christmas in the 1940s," Dec. 12, 15, 16, 19 and 26 from 1-5 p.m. History House on Officer's Row will be decorated for the event and tours of Fort Hancock will be given.

The John Doe Trio will also perform live jazz Dec. 15 from 2-4 p.m. Refreshments will be served. There will also be a lantern tour of the fort that evening beginning at 5 p.m. Attendees should bring a flashlight for the tour which ends at History House. A children's Christmas craft workshop will be Dec. 16 from 1-4 p.m. Children may create paper chains and snowflakes, and popcorn garland.
