Matawan police respond to accident at train station

MATAWAN - At approx. 7:33 p.m. on Dec. 6, the police department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. The fire department and first-aid squad, along with the Keyport First Aid Squad, responded and transported both victims to hospitals for treatment.

According to police, Mirella Rosano, 35, Marlboro, had been walking across Main Street, near the intersection of High Street, when a 2004 Silver Hyundai, operated by Lynda Luzarski, 49, Union Beach, struck her.

Police said Rosano sustained head injuries and was transported to the trauma unit at Jersey Shore Medical Hospital by the Matawan First Aid Squad.

Luzarski was transported to Bayshore Community Hospital by the Keyport First Aid Squad to be examined.

The Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team responded to assist the investigating officer, Patrolman Joseph Lovallo, Matawan Police Department Traffic Safety Division.

According to police, the accident is under investigation and no charges have been filed as of yet.
