Linda Vare

Mrs. Vare, 103, of the River Plaza section of Middletown, died Nov. 14. She was born in Assamalla, Estonia. She was a displaced person after World War II, and she and a small family group spent seven years in the American Sector of Germany, and were sponsored in America by the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Blairstown. She was a professional cook and food service manager for the Estonian shale oil works. Prior to that, she was a cook at the estate of David Marx, Shrewsbury, of Marx Toys, and employed for the State of New Jersey in the Green Thumbs, and Foster Grandparent programs at Marlboro State Hospital. She was the fifth of 11 children. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Carol Vare; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. A memorial service will be scheduled for early 2008. Arrangements are by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
