H.S. softball program sponsors benefit for former captain

HAZLET - Coach Janet Citro and the Raritan High School softball team will be sponsoring "Take a Walk for Stephanie," a 5- mile walk/run at Raritan High School to benefit Stephanie Coonan, a 2003 graduate, softball player and captain at Raritan who is undergoing treatment for a very rare form of stomach cancer.

"Take A Walk for Stephanie" will take place Sunday, April 20, at the Raritan High School Athletic Complex. Registration will take place from 9-10 a.m. and the 5-mile walk will start at 10:30 a.m.

Stephanie is responding to all treatments, and in the near futurewill undergo a 15-plus-hour surgery at Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital. Not only is this surgery going to be physically and emotionally stressful and draining for her and her family, it will be extremely expensive.
