Police warn of car burglaries

MIDDLETOWN - The Middletown Police Department is urging residents to take precautions by locking vehicles parked overnight, due to an increase in car burglaries occurring in the township in recent days.

Since Jan. 21, reports of as many as 15 cars being burglarized have been filed in the Port Monmouth and Belford sections of the township. All of the burglaries occurred during the night to unlocked vehicles. Electronics devices, radios, wallets, pocketbooks and money left in these vehicles were reported missing.

he Police Department is cautioning

residents about leaving valuables in unlocked vehicles overnight and asks residents to report any suspicious activity immediately when they see it. Anyone who may have information that might be helpful to the police in solving these crimes is asked to call the police department at (732) 615-2100.
