YMCA kicks off Strong Kids Campaign

MIDDLETOWN - The Community YMCA will kick off its annual Strong Kids campaign on Thursday, Feb. 7, to raise funds for YMCA program scholarships for children and families in Monmouth County.

The event will be an evening of inspiration and information led by campaign chairs James Staveley of Eatontown and Hope Brodsky of Lincroft.

The annual Strong Kids campaign helps the Y fulfill its promise to the community that no one is turned away from participating in YMCA programs and services because of an inability to pay. Proceeds from the Strong Kids campaign directly support YCares, a financial assistance program that assists thousands of children and families each year.

The 2008 Strong Kids campaign kickoff will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. at the Red Bank Family Health and Fitness Center, 166 Maple Ave.

The program is open to all who have an interest in volunteering and wish to learn more. Light supper will be served. For more information or to RSVP, contactMelissa Sevcenko at (732) 671-5505, ext. 20, msevcenko@cymca.org, or visit www.TheCommunityYMCA.org.

The Community YMCA is a community service organization dedicated to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strong values and leadership development. The Community YMCA serves more than 20,000 residents in the Monmouth County area through arts and culture, child achievement, counseling and social services, family health and fitness, and outdoor recreation. Everyone is welcome at the YMCA, regardless of ability to pay. Financial assistance is available through YCares, which is based on a need-based sliding scale.
