Art for the Arts

"Moon Night Vermont" by James Gahagan
The Laurel Tracey Gallery is presenting the second annual "Art for the Arts" exhibition in support of the Two River Theater Company.

This collaboration between the gallery and the theater company connects the dynamic and growing arts community in downtown Red Bank. A portion of the proceeds from the exhibit will benefit the theater

The exhibition, which opened Jan. 25 and runs through Feb. 9, features paintings by gallery artists Ephraim Rubenstein, Francis Cunningham, Jon Peters, Lucy Kalian, James Gahagan, Arthur Cohen, and introduces California painter Mitchell Johnson.

Johnson studied painting and drawing at Randolph-Macon College, The Washington Studio School and Parsons School of Design and was strongly influenced by his New York teachers, all former students of Hans Hoffman. He divides his time between his studio in PaloAlto, California and his favorite painting locations in Italy, France and Bornholm, Denmark. Johnson's paintings have been well collected and can be found in more than 300 private collections and 10 U.S. museums.
