Crash leads to arrest

ABERDEEN- Township police arrested aCliffwoodBeachman after he allegedly fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 35.

According to police, on March 12 at approximately 3:15 p.m.,OfficerMichael Plant responded to a crash on the southbound side ofHighway 35, south of County Road,where police said George Sinka, 51, of Greenwood Drive, had crashed his vehicle and later fled.

Upon arrival, police learned that three vehicles had been involved and one of them, a red GMC pickup truck, was driven by a driver who struck a vehicle in the rear and fled.A

witness approached police and informed them that he followed the pickup, and it turned north on Highway 35 into Old Bridge and then turned onto Briarwood Drive.

Old Bridge police reported they located the vehicle, a red 1991GMC pickup truck, at Sinka's residence, where the damaged portion had been concealed with a tarp. Plant continued his investigation at Sinka's residence and concluded that Sinka was intoxicated. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license, and reckless driving.

Sinkawas issued summonses and turned over toMiddlesex County sheriff's officers on a contempt warrant issued in Middlesex County in the amount of $750.

The driver of the car that had been hit and his passenger were transported to Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, with complaints of neck pain.
