Award winners in EyeSights Local fine art photographers dominate the list of award winners at Eye- Sights 2008, the fifth annual open juried photography show currently on exhibit at the Guild of CreativeArt in Shrewsbury. "Frankfurt Bahnhof" by Jesse Craft Jesse Craft, Red Bank, won Best in Show with "Frankfurt Bahnhof," an image taken at a train station in Frankfurt, Germany. Jeff Smith,AtlanticHighlands, took first place in the color categorywith "Keansburg Amusements," an image that reflects his love of KeansburgAmusements and the atmospheric Shore fog. Connor Hughes, an Atlantic Highlands resident and senior at Mater Dei High School, took third place in the color category with "Dusk Skating." His award-winning shotwas taken at theMiddletown train station late in the day, minutes after sunset. "Blue Petals" by Saori Kurioka, Red Bank, won honorable mention in the color category. The image is a cyanotype inspired by a summer kimono her mother made for her. Carol Tozzi, Jackson, won first prize in the black and white photography category for "No. 14," an image of a vintage steamlocomotive with steam filling most of the frame and the engine clearly in view. "Dusk Skating" by Connor Hughes Joyce Chadwick, Aberdeen, took second place in the black and white category, with "Cloud Over Mount Vesuvius," which captures a timeless moment in Pompeii, Italy. Wendy A. Ritch, Wall, won third prize in the black and white category. "Stationary Movement" was taken looking through the Asbury Casino into the carriage house, which was under construction. Jay Hochheiser, Belford, won honorable mention in the black and white category. His award-winning "Crafts, Jewelry, Jerky" uses a printing process known as "lith," named for the chemical developer employed. These awardwinning images and the other works in this outstanding show are on view through April 2 at the Guild of CreativeArt, 620 Broad St., Route 35 in Shrewsbury.
