3 suspects arrested in bar burglary

MATAWAN - An Old Bridge Township man and two Old Bridge juveniles were arrested March 16 and charged with burglary, theft and criminal trespass, according to a press release from the borough police department.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., Sgt. Jason Gallo observed three subjects wearing dark clothing crouched behind a vehicle parked next to the LaRiviera Bar on Main Street, according to the release.

After a foot pursuit involving the Matawan, Aberdeen and Old Bridge police departments, John Stampone, 18, and two juveniles were apprehended. According to police, the investigation revealed that the three subjectswere allegedly involved in the burglary of the bar, where bottles of alcohol valued at $300 were removed.

Officers were able to positively identify the subjects fromsurveillance video frominside the bar.All three subjects were charged with burglary, theft, obstruction, and receiving stolen property. The juveniles were released to their parents, and Stampone was released on a summons.An initial court appearance is scheduled forApril 16.
