Holmdel CFO adds title of administrator
Annecharico has served township for 20 years
BY ERIN O. STATTEL Staff Writer

Joseph Annecharico
HOLMDEL - The township's chief financial officer will now add the title of township administrator to his job description.

Joseph Annecharico was named chief administrative officer of Holmdel Township to a round of cheers from committee members and residents in attendance at last week's Township Committee meeting.

"I am very pleased and want to extend my thanks to the committee for their faith and confidence in me," Annecharico said after the announcement at the April 3 meeting. "I look forward to making public service a priority."

Annecharico has filled the position of interim administrator, in addition to his responsibilities as CFO, since February. He succeeds former Township Administrator Christopher Schultz, who resigned in late 2007 to accept the position of township manager of Moorestown in Burlington County.

According to a press release, Annecharico's appointment will be retroactive for a portion of the time he has served as the acting town administrator. He has served as assistant CFO and as CFO over the past 20 years.

"I have no doubt Holmdel Township will be well served by Mr. Annecharico," saidMayor Serena DiMaso. "His integrity and work ethic are outstanding and we are privileged to have him as our administrator."

The Township Committee commissioned the services of Government Management Advisors to assist in the search for an administrator.

According to the press release, Annecharico was chosen from a field of 25 applicants who were judged on their submissions and their responses to specific questions regarding important issues in Holmdel. The search process began in November.

"Mr. Annecharico proved himself to be the very best of the available candidates for the position," said Gregory Fehrenbach, a principal of the firm who facilitated the recruitment and selection process.

Annecharico's salary as CFO was $109,096 annually. With the addition of township administrator to his title, his annual salary will be $160,000.

Township Committee members Rocco Pascucci, Janet Berk and Alan Bateman all expressed their satisfaction with Annecharico's appointment, as did Committeeman Larry Fink.

"Mr. Annecharico's appointment will be cost-effective for the township since he will be serving as both administrator and CFO," Fink said. "With more than 20 years of service, he is very knowledgeable about issues important to Holmdel's citizens."

Fink went on to describe Annecharico as "well-respected for his ability to listen, synthesize inputs and arrive at wellfounded recommendations and solutions to difficult problems."

As administrator, Annecharico will be managing budgets; 125 full-time employees; four collective bargaining units and six departments, including administration, finance, public safety, parks and recreation, public works and community development; in addition to the municipal court and sewer, swim and tennis utilities.
