Middletown youths urged to wear helmets for safety

Police Lt. Craig Weber, a member of the Middletown Township Police Department's traffic safety bureau and president of the Superior Officers Association, wishes to remind parents and children that as warm weather approaches, New Jersey helmet law requires residents age 17 and younger to wear a helmet when on a bicycle, skateboard or scooter on the road.

The Superior Officers Association, the Policemen's Benevolent Association and the Retired Officers Association have promoted the wearing of helmets by issuing a summons to individuals age 17 and younger, congratulating the individual for wearing a helmet. The reward is a slice of pizza or an ice cream cone.

For more information, call Weber at (732) 615-2047.
