DVRT training to begin April 28 in Freehold

180-Turning Lives Around, Hazlet, will conduct a 40-hour training for domestic violence response team (DVRT) volunteers Mondays-Wednesdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. April 28-May 22 at Monmouth County Police Academy, Freehold.

Volunteers work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information, and referrals to victims of domestic violence at police headquarters.Applicantsmust be 18 or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver's license, be willing to serve on an on-call shift basis, and submit to background investigations and fingerprinting.

Local police departments participating areAberdeen, Colts Neck, Eatontown, Fair Haven, Freehold, Hazlet, Holmdel, Keyport, Little Silver, Long Branch, Manalapan, Matawan, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury, Tinton Falls andWest Long Branch. Marlboro is not currently seeking additional advocates.
