Driver charged in motorcycle crash
HOLMDEL - A Jackson man was charged with traffic violations after crashing his motorcycle Saturday night.
George E. Hill, 58, was riding southbound on Holmdel Road on his 2006 Harley-Davidson at approximately 7:39 p.m. when witnesses reported that he failed to negotiate the curve in the road and was ejected from the motorcycle and crashed near Dante Way.
Police said that it was unclear if Hill was trying to pass another vehicle or if he was unfamiliar with Holmdel Road.
Hill sustained head injuries and was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, said Holmdel Detective Sgt. Louis Torres.
Hill was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, improper passing and failing to drive in a single lane.
Patrolman Thomas Struble and Sgt. Shawn Bailey investigated the accident and the Holmdel Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit will conduct a followup investigation.
