Library hosts South Asian Film Festival
The Middletown Main Library will screen a series of acclaimed short films produced by the Asian American Filmand Theater Project on two consecutiveMonday evenings in June.

Screenings on June 2, 6-8:45 p.m.:

"Little Terrorist" (narrative short), India, 15 minutes (Hindi).

This award-winning short film tells the story of a 10-year-old Pakistani boy who crosses the borderwith noway of getting back.

"Whose Children Are These" (documentary feature), U.S.A, 27 minutes, (English).

The award-winning film provides a glimpse into the post-9/11 world of three youngsters impacted by the federal policy of special registration, and prejudice in the U.S.

"Naamkoro/Naming Ceremony" (narrative short), India, 15minutes, (Bengali).

This is a story of a family of pickpockets in Kolkata and a naming ceremony full of novelty.

Screenings on June 9, 6-8:45 p.m.: "Viva Liberty" (narrative short), U.K., 20 minutes, (English).

This award-winning short film is a dark comedy about a British Muslim whose holiday in America takes a detour to a detention facility called Camp Liberty.

"1001 Auditions" (narrative short), U.S.A., 26 minutes, (English).

After years of ups and downs, countless auditions and struggling to make it in New York, Meera realizes her true karma.

"Pria" (narrative short), Canada, 12 minutes, English, (Hindi).

In the hope of impressing the object of her affection, 15-year-old Pria tries to lose her SouthAsian accent by imitating lines from her favorite movies.

"Red Roses" (documentary short), U.S.A., 17 minutes, (English, Bengali, Hindi).

Set in a South Asian beauty parlor in Queens, N.Y., this film is a sociological portrait of women negotiating the cross currents of two cultures.
