Market in the Middle, 516 Asbury Ave., Asbury Park, along with the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Eatontown, and Asbury Rockin' Cats will present a Paws For Life fundraiser and gallery opening Aug. 16. The fundraiser will begin at 4 p.m. with a doggy fashion show at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. Festivities then move to Market in the Middle for the opening of Joyce Stolaroff 's "Paws For Life" art exhibit. Wine, cheese and tapas will be served. Registration begins 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 24 for Timmy's Tour de Shore annual bicycle ride to raise funds for pediatric brain tumor research. Sign-up will be in front of Whole Foods Market or Blue Tulip, Chapel Hill Plaza, Route 35 north, Middletown. The nonprofit Timothy Pauxtis Foundation, Middletown, was created in memory of 10- year-old Timmy Pauxtis who died two years ago from a brain tumor. Blue Tulip will donate 15 percent of purchase price of items sold during the registration period. The tour will be Oct. 12 at Fort Hancock, Sandy Hook. The Historical Society of Ocean Grove will host an Illumination Garden Party and Tour at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22. The event honors and thanks the individuals who generously support the society's efforts at Centennial Cottage. The use of paper lanterns under the tent and porch roofs will provide for a beautiful setting at the garden party. Light refreshments will be served. The Historical Society of Ocean Grove will host the 19th annual Ocean Grove Summer Postcards, Antiques, Collectibles & Jersey Shore Memorabilia Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Auditorium Pavilion and surrounding grounds, directly across from the Great Auditorium. The Municipal Alliance is collecting old cell phones, MP3s, PDAs and iPods to raise funds for programs that focus on alcohol and drug prevention. Devices do not have to be in working order, but the newer the device, the more credit the alliance earns. As part of the township's green initiative, batteries, cradles and phone cords are also accepted.
