High-density housing not solution in Holmdel
The issue of the Lucent property continues to drive the politics of Holmdel. Recently a developer, Somerset Development, has indicated that they are purchasing the property. While this may not seem to be unusual, the support of Citizens for Informed Land Use (CILU) and the Holmdel Democrats is frightening. They are so focused on maintaining the Lucent building that they are willing to accept high-density housing and development on the property. For these groups it's preserve the building at any cost. While no one can argue the historical importance of the building, it is dangerous to our quality of life to accept the CILU/Democratic Party endorsement of high-density development.

High-density development will destroy our quality of life here in Holmdel. It will add to the traffic in the area and it will burden our education system. Stores and the proposed hotel are uses that I suspect are not acceptable to the vast majority of Holmdel residents. It is worth noting that a member of CILU has already met with these developers and voiced no opposition to the high-density development. To be quite clear, the Republican candidates for Township Committee, Dr. Rocco Pascucci and Pat Impreveduto are opposed to high-density housing and development. Without question, the Holmdel Democrats, aided by CILU, will attempt to distort the Republican position. Residents can e-mail Rocco and Pat at holmdelgop@hotmail.com for answers to any questions they have regarding this or any other matter.

We need to protect our quality of life. While we might agree that some development must take place in Holmdel, high-density housing and development is dangerous and wrong.
