Activities in parks begin in January

Monmouth County Park System will offer free activities in its parks beginning noon-2 p.m. Jan. 10 with Wood Days at Historic Longstreet Farm, Longstreet Road, Holmdel. Attendees will get to watch farm staff cut wood for the winter. A blacksmith demonstration will be 1-3 p.m. Jan. 11, and attendees may watch the blacksmith in his workshop.

The exhibit, "Nature Scenes of Monmouth County" is displayed through Feb. 22 at Historic Walnford, Upper Freehold. The multi-media exhibit of work done by county artists depicts nature scenes from throughout Monmouth County. Park hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
