Go, Huskies! Shore Conference Champs
The Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School Baseball Team won the Shore Conference of Middle Schools Championship. This marks the school's third consecutive year to garner top honors at the Shore Conference.
The Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School baseball team took top honors for the third year. The 2009 team finished this season with an impressive undefeated record of 17-0. Some statistical highlights of the team's season include scoring 170 runs in their 17 games played, and only allowing 39 runs by the opposing team. The team's pitching staff combined for 120 strikeouts in 104 innings pitched with an earned run average of only 1.75.
The middle school team was led by coach, Jim Scheuing, who is a sixth- grade math teacher at the middle school, and two volunteer assistant coaches, Rick Derechailo and Nick Citro. Members of the team are: Luke Adduccio, Ryan Branagan, Connor Clifton, Mike Creamer, Mike Denino, Patrick DePaolo, Justin Harnett, Justin Henderson, Dan Incle, Shawn Johnson, Brian Leibell, Robbie Marshall, Michael Martocci, Jimmy McNamara, Tyler Perlowin, Matt Pidich, Joe Piscopo, Anthony Principe, Matt Rackett, Ronnie Robinson, Scott Thompson, Chris Veary, Mike Ziegler and George Zirkel.
