Groundbreaking for new Alzheimer's community

Alcoeur Gardens, which has locations in Matawan, Ocean Township and Brick, broke ground recently on a new Alzheimer's community in Toms River. The ceremony for the new facility took place Nov. 12 at Alcoeur Gardens, 1126 Lakewood Road in Toms River.

Alcoeur Gardens facilities offer an alternative to institutional care for people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. The facilities provide 24-hour care and supervision. The new 16-bedroom facility has special features including an enclosed courtyard, a screened-in porch and a large front porch perfect for relaxing, and paths through lovely gardens with alarms on security gates that let residents enjoy the sunshine and wander without getting lost.
