      With the economic troubles facing our nation, you have to wonder how it will affect Monmouth Park. This past weekend, the historic racetrack in Oceanport opened its doors to start the 2009 meet, and early indications are that even in such trying times, people are still willing to try their luck.

Area athletes strike gold at county meet
      Holmdel High School's George Galasso led a parade of area athletes who shined at the Monmouth County Track and Field Championships. Galasso won the 3,200 meters, one of the featured races of the competition, which was held on May 9 at Neptune High School.
