Winifred R. Gleason

Mrs. Gleason, 80, of Hazlet, died June 16, 2009, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. She had resided in the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge for 58 years before relocating to Hazlet 19 years ago. Mrs. Gleason was a cafeteria cook at St. Joseph School, Keyport. Prior to that, she was employed on the assembly line at American Can Co., Paterson. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, James P. Gleason, on March 23, 2009; a son-inlaw, Edward Conroy, in 1977; and two sisters, her twin, Gen Ackerson, and Ruth Ridge. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and Joe Gano of Hazlet, Joan and Ronald Gissubel of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Kathy and Tom Devino of Keyport; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Dana Gleason of Matawan, and Johnny and Nancy Gleason of Morganville; a sister and brother, Margaret Miller and John Dyer, both of Paterson; 10 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment was at the church's cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Food Bank of N.J., 31 Evans Terminal Drive, Hillside, NJ 07205. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
